Default Oil specifications

Hi all just a quick one, just looking into buying oil for my 56 plate d5 and have always used triple qx 0-30 from Eurocarparts.

Just looking and it looks like it’s not the a5 b5 it was it says a4 b4 is it the same spec just been updated, I also looked at the Castrol edge and that doesn’t say it either but after googling it they both come up as right.

Thanks a lot Daniel

a5/b5 is needed due to the extended service interval .

A5/B5 has absolutely nothing to do with extended service interval vs A3/B4, theyre the same but a5/b5 has lower shear stability to enhance fuel economy (at slight/possible expense of engine protection)

If you have filled with A3/B4 you dont need to worry, just revert back to A5/B5 next service (though you can run a3/b4 if you want, its the other way round that shouldnt be practiced)

Thanks for the replies, after having a look there is the same oil just different specs will make sure it’s the right one before buying.

Went to Eurocarparts today triple qx was a5b5 last year but it isn’t now they didn’t know either, so went for Petronas syntium which meets and exceeds a5 b5 so will give this ago thanks again.
