940 heater parts
Hi
It looks as if the heater on my 1991 940 SE needs overhauling. I have replaced the matrix and valve on several 240s over the years - does one do the 940 in the same way or do I have to buy a complete unit? Anyone done the job who can help? Also, I don't want to use a 2nd hand unit but on a 15 year old car I don't want to pay Volvo prices! Anyone know of a source of new /pattern heaters or heater parts? No point in reinventing the wheel if someone out there has already been down the same route!! Thanks JohnD |

RE: 940 heater parts
I don't know how relevant, but I replaced a leaking heater matrix on my air-con equipped 1998 940. It took a weekend (!) to strip the bottom of the dash and centre console away, and then hack (dremel) the old hoses off the unit from under the dash to eventually remove it). We'd suffered wet carpets for months before replacing it - stress fracture at the union between inlet pipe and matrix.
Breakersyard.com for the part, and a Haynes manual (useless pictures and completely inadequate instructions -> one sentence describing 2 hours work....), and a lot of patience and crawling into small spaces... (I'm 6ft 2") But it is possible for an amateur to do, and my local friendly independant who didn't have the time to do the job was seriously impressed..... |
