Smile Haldex 5 AWD Fluid / Oil Change

Hi all,

I think it's been discussed here a few times but this is what I've found when asking the question of do we need to change the haldex oil?

- contacted Volvo directly = "you don't need to”
- contacted Volvo dealer = " no you don't need to, we've never done that"
- spoke to a land Rover specialist (who was working on our defender) = "yes definitely, when was it last done?”
- most other car forums with haldex awd = ”yes change as per schedule"

I've watched this video https://youtu.be/R4mb-e-3R7M and he definitely recommends it...so... I changed it this morning.

Very easy job, and on these haldex 5's there is no filter that needs changing but mine was caked in crap so needed cleaning. 300ml of original fluid was drained and replaced.

See pics for before and after!!

Yeah, I had this from Volvo too. I’m not sure what Haldex I have in mine but Volvo tell me it’s a “sealed unit”. However, I’m renewing my warranty yearly so if it goes bang they’ll be replacing it (hopefully).
