850 mystery cabin leak

Hi everyone,

I'm just about at the end of my tether with trying to rectify a water leak entering into my cabin on my '96 850 T-5.

The corner of my headlining at the passenger side top of the A pillar is always soaking wet, to the extent that both the headlining and the frame are deteriorating.

Here's the scene:

The car is a non sunroof model, so that can be ruled out. The car has had roof rails retrofitted before my ownership, and I have tiger sealed the holes and refitted the rails. I have also revealed the edge inside the cabin at the windscreen with tiger seal and have run something called Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure along underneath the rubber seal.

It is still getting wet.

I have no idea what else to try, but open to ideas.

I had a leak in mine and was the result of a windscreen replacement some years before, where the fitter scratched the paintwork - led to rust - finally let water in. I bit the bullet last summer and got it sorted at a local body shop £600 plus Autoglass costs

After all, that you have done, the windshield would also be my suspect for that problem.

As already mentioned I have suffered for years with a pond in the floor wells mainly in the passenger well. I used sealer around the top and had the over riders off too still no good. Was convinced it was my sun roof.

I paid out my own pocket for a pucker windscreen and so far since the back end of last year no leak. Only issue was the dealer broke one of my dome lenses

Have you used the Creeping Crack Cure on the inside or outside of the screen rubber?

If the inside, the water may still be coming in under the rubber seal and then entering the cabin further along from where it did originally.

Water can penetrate at one point and travel (down, across or even upwards) before emerging to where it is noticed inside a vehicle body, so don't just look at the immediate area.

I would agree that it might be worth having the screen removed and resealed.
