At least the xc60 has some sort of spare. I haven't even looked at the x3 because of run flats only.

FWIW - there is no problem whatsoever is running a spacesaver on a post 2002 Volvo Haldex AWD transmission. The Haldex site is quite specific on that point.

The confusion arises because pre 2002 V70XCs used a viscous coupling, IMHO a disaster, not fit for purpose etc, etc.

A question springs to mind: Where do you put the punctured regular wheel when you drive on the spacesaver?

You have to put it in the boot - at that point you realise why Volvo use a spacesaver and why you would never want to drive about with a full size spare

Having had run flats on my last two cars - and having had to rely on them after valve failure - I was disappointed that they (and TPMS) were not available on the XC60. Currently I'm carrying the inflator and sealant kit but seriously considering a space saver.

TPMS will be on the 2015 model as part of the standard build - it is already in the manuals, just not been implemented.

It is EU legislation that requires all meow cars to have it by the end of this year.

Is it the ABS derived tyre pressure sensing or actual sensors fitted in the wheels which are becoming mandatory?

On the spare wheel, has anyone eye-balled their spare yet? I still can't believe the spare has a significantly different overall diameter to the normal wheels!? Must look bizarre...

I understand it is the actual measured tyre pressure with device inside the tyre

Lordy...

Those have to be replaced every 4-5 years I think as they're battery powered in a sealed unit - £400 for a set. Though that price will come down I suppose if their use is more widespread.
