Crit Air Sticker arrived, I also have a German sticker and both "should be" firmly attached to the windscreen it is a good thing that in the UK the Road Tax disc has been discontinued to give a bit more windscreen space.

As I shall be also visiting Switzerland I shall also be getting a motorway pass as well - so the the front view will be reduced.

I had no problem getting the sticker and very quick.

I have a 2016 XC70 and they gave me a 5 which would mean banned from Paris.

A 5?! Wow... That's really odd... 5 are given to very old cars. There should be no reason why a 2016 XC70 would fall into that category. If it's petrol, it should be 1, if Diesel it should be 2.

You should check if you correctly entered all data, I see absolutely no reason to get a 5... I got a 2 on a D5 2016 XC60 a couple of years ago and now also a 2 for the 2017 XC90 D5.

I also got a 2 for 2017 XC90 D5. I thought the 2016 D5 was Euro 6 so should be nowhere near a 5.

and
https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/

for the French - I think this cheaper than the crit-air location.

Enjoy
The crit-air site is like these websites here that say they can sort you a passport or whatever but charge you five times the cost of you going direct to the .gov.uk passport site. OK, in this case you need a bit of french but the crit-air site charges nearly 30euro while the official gouv.fr site costs 3.11euro plus postage to an 'overseas' address.

With regards to whether cat 1 or cat 5 is worse - according to their website cat 1 used to be the worst but now is the best available (for internal combustion engines)

Where have you guys put the German sticker? Left or right (as seen from the driver's view).

Disregard - I finally found an answer on the web (motorhome forum).

Should be in the lower right hand corner as seen from the driver's view.

Hahaha! It doesn't meet the EU regulations on pettiness. Now if it was vacuum-cleaners, that'd be a different story! LOL!

Earlier this year I got one for my 1999 V70 diesel from the official source for about £4.

It was very quick to arrive but you are sent an email that you can print out to use if the sticker hasn't arrived by the time you depart.

My V70 TDI was a 5 as I expected.

As a point of interest, whilst we were in France I looked at many French cars in areas separated by hundreds of miles and the vast majority didn't have a sticker.

OK - were were only in Normandy and Brittany this year but Rennes is now Green within the ring-road.
