Default Mini-roundabouts..what am I doing wrong?

My pet hate is rapidly becoming mini-roundabouts.
There's one at the end of my street.

I approach it.
There's a car waiting on my right, so I give way. They sit there. I look at them, they look at me. They wave me through despite them having right of way and a clear path through. I decline and wave them through. I don't want them ramming me and claiming I jumped in front of them. They look at me wierdly.

Or I approach, my right is clear so I pull onto the mini-roundabout only for someone on my left to shoot forward straight in front of me, causing me to brake hard, and then they stop and give me verbal!

Or the people who don't realise it's there at all and blast over at 40mph almost taking off the front ends of everyone...

So what am I doing wrong?
And yes it is a mini-roundabout, all warning signs present, and not a normal crossroads.

we have a lot of them by us and the only trouble I have had is everyone sat there waiting for the one on the right to move.

We have one near us and my idea of fun is to take the caravan across the junction. Because it is at a T junction and I am approaching from the joining road the traffic from the right assume that they have right of way. As the junction is tight enough for the car and caravan to turn right around the roundabout I have to take it slowly. A couple of times now I have been hooted at and shouted at because I have dared to hold up the traffic from the right. In the past I have stopped across the junction, got out and explained to the driver that the solid white line across his junction means he / she should stop and give way to the traffic from their right. Usually shuts them up.
