Forte turbo cleaner
Hi, I am just asking if anyone has given their car of Forte turbo cleaner. As I am convinced my d5 is going into limp mode because the variable vanes on the turbo are sticking. At £15 got to be worth a punt.

In this instance Forte is a very well known brand and as you say, what harm is it likly to do? I would give it a go! |

I have looked on the forums, and the vw guys seem to think they also get results. because my old golf had exactly the same symptoms as my d5.

Have you connected up an OBD2 reader to show that you are actually having a boost problem? I'd want to do that first, before sticking in the snake oils out of desperation!

How does it clean the turbo, do you pour it in the air intake?

yes mate. showing turbo solenoid waste gate, but apparently that can come up for lots of associated problems concerning boost.

I genuinely can't see how an additive could provide anything other than a minor improvement for a short period.

Read mostly good stuff about Forte products but never used any myself, I can get why people don't believe it helps though. I was the same until I had a dirty/clogged carb on my old motorbike and tried some Putoline fuel system cleaner which completely sorted the problem, I only ever ran it on higher octane fuel too so the cleaners in it weren't enough to sort it out.
In my situation the bike wasn't worth much so I weighed it up and went for it, it does make me wonder what exactly it was that was nasty enough to clear the problem. It didn't cause me any problems later but I would think twice before chucking anything through the engine, especially if it's even close to being modern.

Forte is expensive and the only only additive I would use. I personally throw a bottle of their injector cleaner into the cars twice a year and being maintained well really don't notice anything for the better or worse. My GSXR-1000 doesn't get used much and despite being healthy only marred by stale fuel, I gave it a good run 2 weeks ago and drained the tank, filled with vpower and put a bit of Forte injector cleaner in - it did the bike some good, just felt like new by the time the first tank of fuel was through it.
I did take a bottle of Forte diesel injector cleaner and turbo cleaner on a recent trip to India to use on an old 3.0TD Ford Endeavour that was running below par. By the end of the week, there was noticeably more response and acceleration and on roads where getting to 90kmph was hard work, the car was breezing 120/130kmph. I'd use it as a maintenance item to try and keep things nice and healthy rather than a fix for a serious defect but I'd recommend it from experience.
