Default So, where IS??!! the XC 60 "bonnet open" switch?

Got the famous Bonnet Open warning up and the alarm going off when locked. A few posts here with the same problem but as far as I can find, no-one has definitively located the switch. Presumably it's hidden away somewhere for security purposes.

Any ideas, folks? Dealing with our local Volvo dealer is getting increasingly frustrating and difficult and I'd love to avoid that!

Thanks in advance

Is it on one or both bonnet catch(es)? Is there a wire leading to either of the catches? Come loose?

Trouble is, it's all way to tight to see anything, and looks as if you have to take the whole darned fron bumper assembly off (or rad assy) to even see what's going on

Angry Found it.

Hmmm. Found it with a random Google search term which I'm now not sure what I used. Never seems to work when you try sensible search terms.

Anyway, there's a workshop manual posted on line here where you can find where the bonnet catches are here . But to get at it you have to take the whole of the **** front of the car off! See here and subsequent pages.

Why do they design these things in this way???!!!

At page 14420 - what is the fluid they tell you to catch, I wonder - headlamp washer jet fluid?

I suppose it is to stop thieves disabling it easily.

Well, part of the reason no doubt, but I'm sure I could design it without having to take the whole front off the car to achieve it.

You can bridge the wires together next to the drivers side headlight as a tempory measure to get light out

Nice one, thanks. Done.

So: Bonnet open switch is on OFFside (in UK/RHD) side of the car. Connects via a small 2-wire plug and socket on the nearside side of the offside headlamp assembly. Take (flying) socket off (fixed) plug, jumper it, tape it all up nice and securely and tape the now flying lead away nice and securely.

Now, I'm sure there was something I meant to get the garage to do next time the car is in... what was it again?
