Default Replaced fog lights with DRL

In almost 3 years of ownership of my XC60 I've never used the fog lights and I always thought that daytime running lights (DRL) would be far more useful.

I bought this kit from China 11 months ago and had it lying around in the garage and this Saturday I got motivated and installed it on my 2009 XC60

My XC60 has the parking sensors fitted so I had to punch out the relevant areas in the new housings and whilst that was easy the sensors were not a great fit in the new housing as the plastic seemed to be thicker so a bit of fettling with a Dremel tool was required.

The wiring was straightforward with 4 wires.
One wire to earth (I removed passengers headlight and use the earth point revealed)
One wire to power, I used the screw under the fusebox lid in engine compartment
One wire to headlight power (used wiring diagram in Haynes manual to identify the correct wire, cut it and used a terminal block to rejoin and make an extra tapping
One wire to switched power - used Haynes to identify an spare fuse in engine fusebox and confirmed with multimeter that it was switched on / off by ignition. I got one of those replacement fuse thingies with a wire attached to tap off power from the fuse socket

The rest of the time was spent fiddling around routing the wiring and neatening up with cable ties

All working now and the DRL are always on when the ignition is on:

Mode 1 - Headlights off, DRL are full brightness
Mode 2 - Headlights on, DRL run in half brightness

Next job to tackle is to fit the Garmin wireless reversing camera (which matches up with my Garmin hard wired in GPS). Have had the bits for that lying around for a shamefully long time also.

Post some pics up, I have debated fitting DRL's to my 2010 beast.

My issue is that I have used my fog lights on a number of occasions and they are useful even my HID's could not cut through it.

Yesterday I passed another XC60, he had removed his fog lights and replaced them with circular DRLS, each lamp had four LEDs in a quad formation and it looked good.
I am thinking of a minor mod to the parking LED's and using them by making them brighter. As for the parking lights, they are under driven to dim them with something like 6 volts instead of 12 which they can take. The LEDS are connected in series with the position lights which are conventional bulbs.
