First trip in re-suspended '68 yesterday...then scuff, scuff, scuff and the rear o/s brake jammed on. I don't carry a puller with me so had to be rescued again! Twice in 2 weeks! My MGB has just done 20,000 miles with no breakdowns - what's going on? Turned out the pin that holds the handbrake mechanism together (in the drum) had fallen out and somehow the resulting mash forced the shoes out. What next I wonder? (oh, I forgot, the window fell into the drivers door - but I'm used to that, my '66 estate does the same).

Your previous post has enabled me to change this cars status to "Taxed" on my Estate database. It's also an opportunity to say that the database now stands at 196 registrations with 68 taxed and 44 on SORN. This may not be exactly true as I'm sure that some marked as taxed and some on the sorn list will now have the opposite status. I'd like to think that the moves have been mostly from sorn to taxed. Remaining cars of the 196 are either known to be "dead" or just have a Liability for Tax that's long overdue. I've been informed of several in the last few months and more would be welcome even ones that have been previously owned and/or scrapped. Please don't assume that your car or the one you used to have is on the database. If you haven't been in touch, maybe a new owner or you've rescued a "barn find". a picture and the registration number would be welcome and appreciated. I might know more about the car than you!

DVLA says 22/7/83 tax due so yes it was a while back. Blue it says and I guess you were too. Thanks for that Peter.
I've got ***577F from one of your pics, a green one. Do you happen to know the prefix letters? Anyone? |

Having now looked at umpteen other automatics I've belatedly was different from every other auto I've seen; every bracket was bolted to the shell, not welded. That old boy may have just been telling the truth.... I don't recognise 577F at all. |

JDF 385 D is also taxed. I just need a red one now and I can fly the flag for the new King of the Netherlands. Sorry, my wife is Dutch.

Red wasn't a factory colour. A pity, as several have been repainted in "Amazon red" and when done to factory standards look great.

When we changed colour red was one the restorer said would look great in the estate we could not understand why it never came in that colour but we just went for a pale blue in the end and very happy with the outcome
