Default Under preshaped footrest

I am thinking of buying a V 60 auto. I am a right leg amputee so can only drive an automatic with an extra accelerator fitted. the modern auto,s have footrests where my extra accelerator would go can any body tell me what is underneath THE PREFORMED CARPET FOOTREST,as it would have to be removable for me to to have the extra pedal fitted.I have already posted this article in the disabled section
thanks in advance

As far as I remember, the 'manual' V60's don't have the footrest as it would be in the way of the clutch pedal. So it may be possible for it to be removed to suit your needs.
Other members may have better knowledge about it, but I think you may be ok.

Correct, manual V60s have no footrest because there is insufficient room for the footrest between the clutch pedal and the 'transmission tunnel'.

So I would think the footrest on the autobox models is just cosmetic (i.e. attached by screws with no bodywork behind it).

I can take a picture of the pedal area in my own manual V60, if that helps?

Can't say for sure on the V60, but on my 2006 S40, and indeed on my 1994 480, it is just a shaped lump of polystyrene, that if you remove the carpet is free to move or remove.

May well be the same still?

I've just been out and tried to take a look at mine but I cannot easily get the carpet up, but feeling what is underneath, it appears that the footrest is integral with the moulding of the side of the bottom part of the central console that houses the auto gear shift. I think the answer would be to buy the side panel and carpet for the manual and swap them over for the neatest solution, or simply chop the footrest off and either buy a new carpet or modify the old one. The mouldings are all plastic so no difficult either. Swapping panels and carpet are obviously going to be easy to reverse should you come to sell the car.

You may like to browse these fitting instructions for various items. Scrolling down will show removal of the side tunnel panels, I does look as though the panel may be in two parts. It is possible that the foot rest is integeral with a plastic floor panel, but what I said in my previous post still applies.

I've included a photo of a bare interior without any plastic panels in at all. If you zoom in to the footwall area there is no footrest integral with the chassis so it is a removable part. It's a LHD car so look at the left foot well.

Been out to the car again armed with the info from looking at the previous articles and the foot rest is integral with the carpet which is a kind of moulded plastic covered with a carpet type finish. You will have to remove a few of components to get it out. Seat, amp, etc. Then swap for the manual carpet. I assume as the accelerator is drive by wire that won't be an issue to move.

The other alternative of course is to move the accelerator to the steering wheel and just use your leg for braking and rest it when you don't need to brake on those long motorway stretches. Whatever is most comfortable.

I thought that nearly every dealership have a Mobility expert.
Surely this would be your first contact to explain what you require and take it from there.

Now you have said that I remembered that my local dealer does indeed offer that service.
