Fuel Filler Flap Fault
Hi, just been to fill up and the fuel filler flap is locked shut. I tried locking and unlocking several times but no joy. When I bought the car some time ago the flap locking bracket was broken to prevent it from being locked which I then have fixed so just wondering if this is a recurring problem? Any help with advice on opening it would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Could it be that the actuator solenoid has seized?
I don't recall the best way but would try getting at in by removing trim in the boot space initially. Sometimes all they need a a gentle tap and some penetrating oil to free them up. |

Follow up & conclusion
Okay, so as a follow up and conclusion to this problem I was able to open the flap simply by physically pulling the locking pin back when in the unlocked mode from inside the boot with my fingers. Removing the unit I tested the power and this was good. Stripping down the unit showed no broken parts. connecting the unit in the stripped condition proved the pin would only operate one way, lock, and would not retract. So I am concluding the motor is at fault. All internal parts were lubricated. Thank you for all the help and the You Tube video.

Out of interest, did you test the motor without the sliding pin mechanism attached so you could see if the motor cog can at least move in both directions?

Motor test
Yes, it only moves in one direction.

If the motor works in one direction I would not be suspecting the motor since the motor only gets an electrical feed reversed, surely.
Feed into A and return from B to open and feed into B and return from A to close. The direction of the motor is only dependent on the direction of the current isn't it??

I think the direction of the current does indeed switch for this lock, so the motor will turn both ways to lock and unlock. Locking can be programmed to happen either as the car start moving from the gas station, or as late as 10min after wards
