Default XC70 Steering Issue

I have a 2005 XC70 which has strange steering. When in a corner the power steering pulses, making it hard to hit any apex. On long corners such as motorway slip roads it is quite disconcerting for occasional drivers.
It feels as if there is an oval joint somewhere or possibly a leak in the power steeing circuit. I can see some oil near the pump.
Has anybody experienced anything similar?

Hi, I had a noise I traced to the strut top mount on the passenger side of my 2006 XC and a similar 'pulsing' to the steering on long corners. Changing the mount - which looked in reasonable condition but was, after all, 13 years old and the spring seat - which looked distinctly 'tired' and had cracks in it, cured the noise and improved the steering 'feel' as well. Get a torch and have a good look under the rubber 'washer' at the top of the strut, if there are visible defects in the top of the spring seat that may be the source of your problem.

Cheers

John

Yes my xc70 d5 does it.
It also has a small pas fluid leak from the steering rack.
I'm checking my fluid levels weekly.

I need to change the rack but need to find the correct replacement as there are so many options
