S60 Bumper
Hello,
So I have a 2003 S60 T5, love the car, i plan on keeping it a while and want to do some tasteful mods, but one of the things that i have considered is swapping the front end for a S60R front end then paint matching to the car as my car is a Ruby Red Metallic so something unique that stands out. Have people done this before and how easy is it to do the swap over ? Currently has the HID Xenons as well as fog lights and headlight wipers. I dont know if i can put a later model front end on with no issues or i will need an 03 S60R one ? Cheers for any help |

I recently had the front bumper off my V70R and noticed that the bumper is actually made of two separate panels, which are clipped together and additionally use the metal spotlight mountings as strengthening supports.
I also have run and seen the bumper unit of a V70 T5 ( cars were 2002 T5 - 2004 R) I'd suggest the S60 is made the same way, with upper and lower panels. Don't know about "facelift" cars, but I'm questioning whether or not the "R" models were face lifted in the same way as the rest of the range ie I thought the R's retained their headlight washers/glass light lens through out the production run. - so you might not need "prefacelift" what ever that may mean. On the V70 there are two bolts behind the plastic trim under the light (L&R) 5 or 6 plastic fastenings on the bumpers upper edge ( under the bonnet) and then two torx holding a sliding/ locking edge piece in the wheel arch (L&R) plus the usual 3 or so large head rivots. Again I'd suggest the S60 is similar. Perhaps someone with a lot more knowledge will chime in, but this at least gives you some idea of what is available. Goodluck Cheers Bob |

Thank you for all of that Bob
I reached out and asked someone from Instagram who has done the swap and he just mentioned about having S60R mounting brackets for it so will have to see what I can do. Mind you seeing some of the R's come up for sale its tempting to wait and get the real deal instead. But cheers Bob ! |

Quote:
1) AWD system is femmer after high mileages - not usually expensive for parts, but labour costs - ie collar gear renewal esp if car has been "enjoyed" 2) 4C suspension does not bring much to the party, but is expensive to replace. 3) lots of sensors and difficult access to them and not much space - try removing the turbo and see how much stuff you have to remove first. However, when they are running right...... Cheers Bob |

This is true and where I would like to get the power to 300hp I can do that with current car. Plus its an 03 with 78k on the clock so low mileage for the year!!
Plus I love the colour of the car which isnt an R colour which is why I would rather make this a bit more custom. I would want to put a decent coilover set on it so 4c would cause more issues as well. |
