Talking hi all

hi,

from the replies received here and off line it would appear that the 4-Nov is the preferred date. Now as to location we seem to be fairly well balanced North and South so what may be handy is a run as follows.

Both side would meet up outside Newry for approx noon ( exact location to be confirmed) then head towards

Route 1:
warrenpoint - kilkeel-annalong-castlewellen-rathfriland- returning to Newry and then home.

or

Route 2:
warrenpoint - kilkeel-annalong- dundrum- ardglass-portaferry-downpatrick-castlewellen-rathfriland- Newry and then home.

link to map

I still have to check out a place to stop over for lunch , so if anyone knows of a good spot please let me know. Also if you know of a nicer alternative route please let me know.

regards

brendan

Newry direction sounds good to me, then again, anywhere in Ireland is on my map! There are some nice roads down that direction so it'll make for a good run.

I think as the last meet was Mullingar it’s best we spread out the rendezvous. I can see it being a long haul for some Southern members this time but future meets will be equally matched for people in the North as well. It’s impossible to plan a meet without a majority attending having to travel a rational distance thus making it hard to suit everybody.

Hi Caprimanuk,
Can you contact the buyer and tell him ( or e-mail him ) about the meeting?

Talking the days events

hi all,

well first off a very big thanks to dk1 for all his hard work in getting the stages tested and routed.

Anyways here the plan:

We will meet up between 12:30 and 13:00 in the car park behind McDonalds in Newry. From the South at the first roundabout head towards Belfast and at the 2nd roundabout ( Texaco Garage on right-hand side ) take the exit for McDonalds.

From the North head towards Dublin at the roundabout take the left exit for McDonald.

Meeting-point

As to the actual routes we will be taking on the day see the link below

Days-route

The run includes stopping at Spelga Dam viewing point in the mourne mountains (#30) shortly followed by a toilet stop (#33). After that we’ll head back to Warrenpoint.

I’m pretty sure we’d have the run completed and arriving at Warrenpoint for 15.00! We can grab some lunch then huddle back to our cars for chit-chat again.

After an hour or so I’m sure we could take another convoy back up to the meeting point in Newry so everyone can split their own way.

Hoping you can make it and see you on the day.

regards

brendan
