Bi Fuel/lpg on a S70
For sale in a non franchised dealer near to my home is a 1998 S70 2.5 10V Bi Fuel. The dealer assures me that it is a factory fitment from new as opposed to an aftermarket conversion it also has full Volvo service history. Can anyone tell me did Volvo offer a bi fuel car as a factory fitment in this year?Alternativly i wondered if by checking with Volvo they could tell me. Any ideas?

Yes Volvo did indeed offer the Bi-Fuel model straight from the factory.
Hope that helps. |

RE: Bi Fuel/lpg on a S70
Take care !!! I believe that the first Bi fuel Volvos were CNG that is compressed natural gas as opposed to LPG. While LPG is increasing in popularity (that is until the Government has enough people hooked and then they can screw the tax) CNG used to have very few filling stations. The much publisised GAS buses and vans usually have enough volume and business to make it viable to install the right kit to compress the mains natural gas for their own use. My figures are probably outdated but I heard that there were only 12 public places to get filled up!!! Makes you wonder why Volvo chose CNG instead of LPG. That said i believe that Volvo do now do Bi fuel LPG cars. Cheers Nigel
