I'm glad you asked the EBD question!
Today I carried out an ATF change using the Gibbons method (well yesterday).

What I did today? Why, I returned to the VOC forums after a couple of years away (Not had a Volvo since then, but looking at Euro3 D5 model V70 as a model to return to the fold in.) So hello again to anyone who I have spoken to prior to today, and greetings to the many who have never seen my face around these parts!

Soz, my bad, I think I was quite tired.
It’s a cool system that measures how quickly you remove your foot from the accelerator and how quickly you press the brake as well as how hard. It can then determine that it’s an emergency stop situation and then it doesn’t really worry too much about how hard you’re pressing, it totally ignores you and uses the ABS pump to turn the brakes up to 11, modulating brake pressure only according to available grip. When you remove your foot from the brakes, it recognises you now wish to reduce braking effort and control returns to your foot.

It’s a bloody clever system....

My V70 was still stalling at low speeds, even after the fuel filter change and having to fix all the subsequent fuel leaks. I decided to check the ETM and sure enough it was all gunked up with oil. Cleaner 'er out and the car runs like a champ again...for now.

Today, I purchased a 190k mile '06 plate S80 D5 SE LUX for the princely sum of £695. Collecting the car tomorrow once insurance kicks in. Really pleased with what we saw, there's a dead HU850 to contend with, the driver's door loom is broken, one mirror needs loose glass repairing and there's a vague hint of a power steering pump issue.

Overall though I feel like it's a fair deal and the car still pulls like a train, smooth and quiet... Sorry, I'm excited lol I'll post in the appropriate area once I have any questions or plans.

Default XC70 Front vacuum engine mount

Today I replaced the front engine mount since it had been identified as the cause of loss of vacuum on my XC70. Not tried it on the road yet...

Default Annual service time

It’s that time of year where I give a little love to my V70 D5 ‘05...
£135 delivered:- oil, fuel, air and pollen filters, 6l oil (let’s not question what spec oil eh?) and a sump plug. All OE parts, I reckon that’s ok in my book.

This weekend then I shall be drilling a little hole in the sump so that all the dirty oil falls out!
Anyone else ever use Wynn’s Engine Flush?

Why would you drill a hole in the sump when it has a plug.? Or are you taking the P!ss.?

Wow..... £135 just for the parts.
For that money, do you know that main dealers do a £199 service for 10+ year old cars? This includes any outstanding software updates plus 12 months European Assistance.

Yesterday, collected '06 S80, the missus washed said S80 while I attended to the driver's door repairs.

Today, I shall mainly be finding time to look at the head unit and satnav.
