So it would seem, very impressed with the car overall and I think the shocks were original too so I can excuse them being worn out (not leaking oil and still full of gas too, just plain and simple worn out so not even failed IMO). They could've continued being used but the back end had a bit of a shimmy over grids etc so they went.
Only problem is, it rides so well at the rear now I'm tempted to replace the fronts too! Next month's Volvo budget is lined up for gearbox oil, power steering pump/fluid replacement & tie rod ends though...

Replaced the DIM lights with some new cob amber leds.. not very pleased with the result, wish they were brighter but the color is accurate and it looks quite nice - the picture has the colors off. The best part is the areas with the miles and the clock, there look really nice in real life, a very sharp amber on black mate surface - again for some reason the camera does show a hallow which is not there
Remember not to put the key in contact while removing a bulb First link are the bulbs used, but I'd rather another type which seems brighter (second link) https://www.ebay.com/itm/32211465426...3A322114654261 https://www.ebay.com/itm/10Pcs-T5-We...1/202002473982

Not on a P2 but I recently found myself looking into a "slight knock from the brakes" reported by the owner of this C30 to discovering that the brakes were absolutely fine but a balljoint and driveshaft were absolutely not fine.
Balljoints are built into the wishbone on these so there was some considerable dismantling to do the whole job on both sides which wasn't helped by some shiny, vanity Chinese wheel nuts which were shockingly soft and disfigured. Final job was 4 drain and fills for the original 135k miles transmission fluid. A satisfying result in the end but not a job I'd like to repeat anytime soon.

Besides the engine, are these really a Volvo? Or more a Ford/Mazda. The metal quality of that suspension is subpar

This doesn't mean that they're "bad" cars and I'll admit it wasn't as bad as I was expecting but I'd be surprised to see many 300k miles C30s. The D5 engine would make it but there'd be nothing left of the car to carry it.

The nearside CV joint started to click and grind a few days ago so rather than mess about with the grease, boots and clamps replacing just the CV joint at around £50, I decided to follow cheshired5s recommendation from 2015 (https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=228996) and bought both the nearside and offside drive shaft for £79.99 each; I figured if the nearside had given up after 210K miles the offside wouldn't be far away from giving up in sympathy! (NB the price was for the auto shafts - those for a manual are £45 each) they arrived next day complete with a 2 year warranty delivered from J and R Driveshafts https://www.jandrcvjoints.co.uk/volv...ive-shafts-509.
It is also worth noting that they are not exchange shafts so J&R Trading (UK) Ltd do not require you to send back the old shafts. A much easier and quicker job than the struggle with boots, cones, packets of grease and cv clips. I have to say the OEM volvo shaft that came out looked absolutely identical in every respect to those from J and R Trading. (No I don't work for them!) The discs were still fine but the pads were a little on the low side so replaced them with the genuine Volvo pads I bought a few months ago.

Re the above post, having replaced the driveshafts, the loud "clank" along with a sort of "snatch" after going into reverse and then gently accelerating from rest whilst going up even the gentlest sort of incline has disappeared.
I had assumed for a few months that the noise was due to worn engine mounts having ruled out loose axle bolts by checking their torque but it would seem as though it might have been an indicator of worn CV joint(s).

Another glowing review of J&R then... I kind of said the same thing after my experiences with them as regards not being on the payroll, such was the praise I had for them.
They're my first port of call now for driveline bits. (FWIW I did mess with grease and boots etc and total cost for a D5 manual outer joint was under £15 from their ebay store). We had a loud metallic sound on take-up of drive as you described and it led me to check the same things and the bolt was fine like you say although we do have a failed bottom vacuum mount. I did grab the outer joint and could make out the slightest bit of play in it too so I agree there's more than just clicking to listen for as a symptom.
