I watched a £10m GTO whack into the side of an E-Type at ththe Goodwood Revival. A bit of me cried seeing damage that will literally cost more than my house to fix but watching these beauties blast around fully sideways on period tyres and very not-period drivers is a beautiful thing.

(Accepted, again nothing to do with my V70, but it was a sight for petroly eyes.)

Well I watched the video of SiRobb about the popping noise from the engine, and yes It has it!! So done the tracing of the vac pipes and found if I blocked the front mounting pipe the engine sounded normal ? Would it matter if I don't change the vac mount for some time ? Didn't notice any vibration .

Best advice is to change the mount as it will put stress elsewhere because it's not doing its job.
I wouldn't wait for the race to the bottom.

Picked up this beauty today and I'm already smitten.

The keen eyed among you will notice it's a bike so how can it be Volvo related?
Well this has literally been paid for with the savings I make from driving and maintaining an old but ever so reliable S60 D5.
Not many cars come with a free bike.

"Not many cars come with a free bike."

In the '70's when limiting fuel deliveries was used as a political tool (aka 'energy crisis') Cadillacs -big pigs at the time- weren't selling.

"Buy a Cadillac and get a Yugo too", read one dealership's ad.

The free BMW with your aged Volvo is a better deal.

Good luck with it.

Yep, it is late in the season but with careful weather watching, I should manage a good few rides out still.
It's certainly been cherished by the previous owners and never been anywhere other than BMW dealers so I feel a responsibility to keep that going. My wallet is quivering already.

Took the V70 for the its MOT today, oddly on the seventeenth birthday of its registration - how's that for timing?

Pass with no advisories.....so pleased - it looks like I'll be keeping it for another year!

Default XC70 Headlamp ‘restoration’.

Today I used a headlamp ‘restoration kit’ on my XC70 and must admit I’m pleased with the results. The lenses had possibly been done at the time I bought the car, nearly two years ago, and were starting to go cloudy again thanks mainly to this summer’s wonderful sunshine.

Here are some during and after shots..
