Default P1800s transmission oil

Hi everyone I am a new member and in the process of finishing my restoration of a p1800s. The manual states that an sae 20/40 oil should be used in the gearbox but I cannot find a source for it, anyone out there know of an alternative I can use safely. Thankyou

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You might want to post your question in the PV, 120 (Amazon), 1800 General section at

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Probably get a better response over there.

Can an Admin move this?

Regards.

So far as I am aware the oil that is used in the gearbox is engine oil. That is certainly the case for the Amazon. I have Castrol GTX 20/50 in my Amazon.
