Clutch pedal not rising properly- sporadically
This has been an ongoing thing for a while now and appears to be worse when the weather is hotter.
Sometimes I have to get it off the floor which is a pain in traffic as you can imagine in traffic. So I’m pulling the pedal with my toe every other gear change... Any ideas? TIA Volvo 940 2.3 LPT 1995 |

Assuming it's a hydraulic clutch, renew the fluid - same goes for the brake fluid.

Dave’s right-my old 940 Estate did exactly the same thing. The brakes and clutch all run off the same reservoir, so i flushed the system (brakes and clutch) through with fresh Dot 4 and bled it all (before Dave alerted me to the wonders of the Gunson Eezibleed...took ages and featured my elderly dad sitting in the car at all manner of odd angles pressing pedals for me for a couple of hours!) and the problem went away for good.

Thanks fellas
So I guess the brakes and clutch both use the master cylinder? |

Both use the same reservoir and therefore the same fluid. If you've got problems like that in your clutch, imagine what might happen to your brakes!

I feel embarrassed now,it was standing a good while...

This seems to be the way forward nowadays. the gunson eezibleeds are good (I got one years ago) but there is no need for the spare wheel for pressure or a regulated pressure from an air compressor. Shop around though they could be had for around £35 last month. Last edited by lynns hubby; Sep 18th, 2018 at 22:23. Reason: Aditional info |

I don't think i've ever seen them that expensive!
Even Hellfrauds are about half that price : https://www.halfords.com/workshop-to...nson-eezibleed To be honest, ebay isn't much cheaper, best price i found on there was £18.99 with free P&P. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gunson-EE...t/130759082496 Think i paid about £15 for my "new" on about 2 years ago. The new one was going to have a one-off modified cap fitted to it for my Rovers as the stanard issue Gunsons caps have one that fits the Volvo perfectly.

Although best value must be foot on the pedal, but I don't think I can manage the necessary continuous instructions to the pedal operator nowadays. I want a pressure bleeder. Repetitive tautologically... . |

Pedal method
Not very fond of the pedal method. The piston in the master cylinder travels all the way so the seal passes an area where it normally does not pass. If you damage the seal on this less "polished" section, foot on the pedal would no longer be the best value...
