I have always used contis because they were OEM but I'm fed up with the uneven tyre wear.

Tyre size for me is 235 60 18 I think

Can see Nokian HT but not the WR2's or General grabbers that everyone seems to be recomending.

Nokian WR2 seems to be 55 profile not 60 as per my car. Is that 5mm important?
Oponeo still have General Grabbers at £131 each in your size.

All the Nokian WR2's have gone now though, and also the Pirelli Sotozero II's

Smile Selling Conti's

First of all, thank you all, especially Roy, for the tyre know how...very helpful. Getting new XC90 in June and considering changing tyres for Vreds wintrac 4 extreme right away and selling conti's 'as new'. Do you have any tips on where to sell them? would I be allowed to use this forum do you know?

Found vred's for sale at Tyremen for c£160 each but hoping to get them a bit cheaper. I think Camskill are offering them at about £135 but don't think they've got any stock?

Better check by phone. I've an idea they only have 2 in stock. The factory isn't making any more until August.

Use the sales section on this forum or ebay them. I'd advertise them in pairs if I were you.

Quick tip, if you're going to go for these sort of tyres which take 3-5 days to arrive, it might be worth buying a spare one so you're never stuck with the space saver in the event of a blowout/puncture....

If only I'd thought about it before suffering that fate tonight with a bank holiday weekend coming up and a trip away on Saturday. Can't find anywhere stocking Nokians who'll do any sort of express delivery service.

I've got the Nokian WR G2s which have been brilliant tyres.

What are the practicalities of having a winter set on 17s and a larger summer set? I'm thinking in terms of swapping them over, do you need to get them re--balanced and the realignment checks done each time or can you just swap them yourself and job done? Assuming they've been balanced properly in the first place obviously.

ascender - sorry to be so slow in replying. I am sure there are other people on this forum who are better qualified to answer this.....but my understanding is that, if you have 2 sets of rims & tyres then there should be no problem changing them over your self, and the process of doing so should not effect the tracking. The only thing I once heard (and this could be urban myth) is that alloy wheels in particular will deform fractionally to take up any imperfections from the face of the bit you bolt the wheel to. If true is would be safer to keep the same wheel on the same corner of the car and the same position. Happy to be debunked if I am wrong!

While I am here, could anyone confirm the load rating of the standard fit 18" 235/60 continentals on the xc90..is it 103 or 107?

THanks
