Question S40 D2 1.6 2012 fuel pressure fault?

Hi I own this s40 1.6 diesel.

A couple of months ago I had the 'reduced engine performance' pop up on the dash throwing the car into limp mode.

I replaced the fuel filter and I thought that the problem was solved as it cured the problems and nothing showed no vida.

Last week I tried to start the car in the morning and the battery was completely flat! After a jump it seemed OK again. Till next morning... Flat!

I got a new battery as it was still the original battery, and all seemed well... Until the 'reduced engine performance' light came on again. After hooking up vida it seemed I had an air pressure problem. I found a bust intercooler hose and replaced that thinking all would be well...

But now I'm getting the problem I had a few month ago!
Seems like lack of fuel! It can't be the filter after only a few month?

When inspecting my engine I also noticed my fuel filter has a round green sticker on the casing? On other ones on eBay the sticker is blue?

I replaced the filter...again!
And once again the car is running as normal.
Must be a bad design?

Also make sure the filter you get has a light blue sticker on it.
My other one had a green one?

So if your car is losing power and struggling to start or lurching when accelerating. It's probably the fuel filter!

Thanks for the information, I've had various limps due to the filter and when the other half is using supermarket diesel (Not a D2) just a D engine.

For those having the same fuel starvation problems, it turned out to be the sender unit in the tank. The filter in it was blocked.

I removed the back seat only to find no access to it! So eventually had to remove the hose leading from the sender unit and blow into it hard!

After some resistance the sediment came loose.
Had to drain the tank to remove some junk. And not had the problem again.
