Default 940GL fuel sender required

Hello,

My Volvo 940GL (1991) failed its MOT for a leaking fuel sender, I believe the part number is 1006578 (https://www.skandix.de/a/1006578/).

I can't get one anywhere, does anyone know if there is an alternative sender unit or tank/sender combination which could be used/modified instead?

The car is a 1991 petrol non-turbo estate, engine type B200F.

Many thanks for any help.

Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear you've got a problem on the tank unit, do you know exactly where the leak is???

I had a faulty in tank pump, but when I done the job there is a large rubber seal in the tank neck, would be worth double checking its not the seal that leaks.

Also fuel hose attaches to the pipes coming through the 'lid' so again checking if the leak is from the hose/pipe joint.

If it's the actual pipes that come through the 'lid' that are leaking/corroded, then probably the only option is sourcing one from a scrap vehicle.

Bit pricey, but you may find one elsewhere with a good search, some Volvo breakers might be a good start, think there is one Nottingham way, but can't recall their name...

Cheers
Steve

Is it the tank seal that's leaking or the pipes that go into ( and out of ) the fuel sender unit ? If it is the seal they are still available. If not you might need to search Ebay or someone who's breaking a 940

This looks similar but is from a 960 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256067791...Bk9SR6yo4ISLYg

Thank you both for the replies, the car is in a Volvo specialist garage so not sure of the exact issue but they're saying it needs a whole unit.

I saw the one you both linked to but it's unfortunately the part which replaced the one we need and is different enough not to fit. Skandix lists the part but have no stock so we're searching breakers yards https://www.skandix.de/a/1006578/

We'll keep looking!

A 91 will be the type with the main pump under the floor rather than just a intank pump.

Fairly sure I have a good sender here

Hi, I have the part numbers now, 3547619 is the original metal one, 3507494 is the aftermarket one. Is there a part number on your one?

Thanks, Alan.

Hi all, sorry, not getting informed of replies.

Yes, tried everyone we can possibly think of. There's one going in America but they won't send to the UK. One in Poland but they won't send to the UK...
