Re the speedo fault, as the car has ABS, does the ABS light come on during driving? If so, the chancs are it's the rear speed sensor, located in the diff. If not, it's likely to be the instrument, probably an electrical fault (solder joints fail on the thin plastic PCB on the back of the instrument cluster) but would need a couple more details (eg does it count the miles, display speed or what) to give you a more definite pointer.
Thank you for the welcome and also the advice. I believe its the rear fault with the sensor and it is in the glove box and ready to be soldered back on so I shall try that this week, save having to use the Tom Tom that came with it! It has been physically removed currently so I have no lights on at all on the dash. Air Con Condenser confirmed porked by a mate who has a garage today so online searching forum to find out which is best one to get as replacement.

Welcome Wilbo13,

Glad to hear the trip home went well, and welcome to the forum.

The amount of help and knowledge on here from knowledgeable owners is absolutely amazing, although I think your motor probably wont need to much to keep it in tip top condition.

This thread in particular, whilst being titled as 200 Series Sales, meanders onto all sorts of topics, generally humorous and often, but not always Volvo related

Enjoy your 940

Cheers
Steve

If the instrument cluster is removed and with it, the warning lights, the battery won't be charging either!

The AC condensers are actually quite reasonably priced for these but beware of the connections to it as they are prone to leak when disturbed, even with new "O" rings!

Welcome to the forum and the madness of the world of Volvo.

Your car does look good and the gorgeous colour suits it well. The ad did paint a picture of a very genuine unmolested example and one to gently improve and enjoy.

Well it's certainly unique Steve!

Unless i'm much mistaken, that's an SD1 engine and i think it's Nightfire Red (from the 800 range) paintwork.
Doubtless there will be lots of "finishing" to do but you'd have a lovely looking car at the end of it.

Not one for me, but I could just see you know who, cruising the Skeggy strip with Bob riding shotgun 😀😀

Unfinished Project that has not been on the road for the past 32 years (when it had a roof), 4 door with the front doors lengthened and the rears welded shut - what could possibly go wrong?
