Default Two tone horns for 940

One of my horns has rotted out and the other sounds like an asthmatic moose.

Need a working replacement set. What have you got?

Grab a pair from an 850 or 70 Series car, the ones just behind the grille.

Cut a decent amount of the pigtail wiring with them and then mount the horns and splice the wires to your factory horn wiring.

You now have a set of decent plastic horns which are nice and loud and better than the tat on ebay.

Fitted these to my 740 and my old 940

I had considered this or these but can the 850 ones be mounted behind the grill? I mean can i remove and fit the bar they are mounted to into the 940 or will I need to fabricate a mount. The 940 horns are really badly located for the elements.

When i fitted them to the 940, i just found various holes around the passenger side strut tower that i could then bolt them to. Well at least thats what i can remember, no longer own the car to look.

On My 740 they are mounted just above the battery utilizing an unused captive bolt there.

I'm sure they can be fitted where ever you like behind the grille if you find a suitable mounting point.

I've just fitted a set to my mates Triumph Spitfire as the old BL metal ones were intermittant and utter crap.

the last cheap one i bought on ebay is crap though the motor spins but no noise dismantled it bent some of the metal and it worked a few times now just back to a whirring motor GRRR (also note: will not pass an MOT with one of these as its 2 tone)

Get a pair of FIAMMS. They are GREAT!
I use them on the motorcycles. The only trouble is people look for an oncoming truck they are that LOUD.

If not, the cheap (ten quid) tat off ebay works just fine using the existing relay and directly replacing the horns and bending the supplied brackets a bit.

... and when (if) they eventually give up the ghost, another set is easily obtained
