Default V70 foglights failed

Both front and rear fog lights failed. Japanese imported V70 2006. Any ideas?

can we assume you've checked the lamps themselves, and then the fuses

one way that springs to mind to test the button (rear, at least) is with the engine running, hold the left stalk button in, and press the rear fog on / off / on / off

you should get a diagnostics readout in the DIM screen, at least you know the buttons working then

rears the only one I'd be concerned about anyway, I think I've used front ones twice maybe in 20+ years of driving and it's a massive bugbear of mine people having them on for no reason (to look cool? I dunno)

Thanks Stuart. I am on my way out to try out your suggestion. Will get back to you one way or another.

Hi Stuart. Tried your suggestion. lights still dead. Bearing in mind the car is a Jap. import with dash in Japanese, the left display which shows Km/litre and projected remaining miles left show a couple of squiggles and the number 2.?
Of late I have to press the left stalk button twice to clear it the first time I switch the ignition on. No idea what that is all about. It has no detrimental effect on the running and once pressed twice, the normal functions show.

ah I see, so you did the on/off/on/off and nothing came up differently on the screen ? not really sure that that means the light buttons are not working or that's just how your car is with the whole import issue sorry..

sure someone else will have some suggestions (again though you did check fuses right ?)

incidentally these people might be able to help you out with getting it reverted to English if it was something you were considering https://volvodiagnostic.com/home/90-...on-change.html

The on/off method did not work. I have checked fuses near driver door on end of dash plus fuses in cargo area. Both ok . This is the first issue I have had in three years ownership. The speedo and trips in Japanese are not a problem-easily converted and have a HUD to double check my speed. Now this issue has raised its ugly head I may consider a conversion. Thanks again.

if the lamps are definitely ok (seems unlikely all would fail at the same time) and the fuses are good, then one possibility is that the buttons module (that little square of plastic with the buttons on and the headlight rotary switch on) might be faulty

>> this isn't a diagnosis it's just pure guesswork

what I was trying to establish was does the button work when using it for the secondary feature (nothing to do with the fog lights themselves) of accessing the diagnostics readout on the little screen by the temp. gauge

I get that the readout is in japanese but you should at least see a change in whatever symbols and letters are on there, and then repeatedly pressing the stalk button will keep making them change as you cycle through a list of modules in the car

does anyone else think that this not working points to the buttons being at fault or am i misleading OP

Have you ever seen them work? I dont think the Japan market has them activated as not legal perhaps?

Checked all those. Local Auto electric specialist has found another fuse box under the dashboard AND the relays above that.

In answer to other comments- Yes the lights did work until a couple of days ago and yes they were converted to UK specification by the dealer before he sold me the vehicle.
