Default Weak horn...

07 D5 XC70. A while back, the horn stopped working. Then suddenly, it worked again, but with a very weak sound. Almost like a duck quacking Since I had the grill down I checked the connectors, and have also checked the connectors in the engine compartment and in the steering wheel stalk. The only thing I haven't done yet is disconnecting the airbag to check the connector switches in the steering wheel. However, I don't really see how that would mean a weak signal, and not just the signal going away... Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the horn? Anyone have other tips for things to try?

I would have thought your first port of call would be the horns themselves?
As you know, there are two separate horn units, perhaps only one is working? I have had vehicles with one of two not working thus sounding very weak.

As you’ve said, if there was an issue with the signal, voltage etc I would expect it to be totally dead. I suppose removing the front bumper and following the horn wiring back to look for defects could be another idea.
