480 Club Europe

Is it just me or has the Volvo 480 Club Europe gone offline? Has anybody else here had trouble logging in?

From yesterday evening the forum seems to have gone down. We/they had been having a massive number of spam posts....

I'm hoping the mods will be able to get hold of the guy who hosts the site, who no longer has a 480 and can sometimes be tricky to get hold of.

It's a pity to see those forums offline, that club is a great resource for anything 480 and has been for all of 11 years now. I run a small forum myself, and currently find myself getting at least 1 page of spammers trying to 'join' per day.

I've noticed an explosion of SPAM this year. The overwhelming bulk of what I'm getting seems to be coming from Ukraine and Russia. It's mad. The big downer is that I'm probably deleting a few genuine people while trolling (unfortunate choice of word! :P) through these pages of rubbish.

Yeah, the last few weeks there have been maybe 500 spam posts a day. There was another explosion in early december (though not as prolonged) that then died down...

PS, nice site ahal-have just spent 20-odd minutes reading your experiences with the 400 series

I heard that the 480europe forum has some problems with the new security update they installed. No idea when and if they can sort it out, so we must practice some patience for the moment!

Thanks for the compliments Captainslow ... I think it's time I updated that site though lol! My 400 collecting has become something of a medical condition at this stage

Thanks also David, it's not Hollywood but serves a purpose I guess

Now this is a quick cure for constipation ... I am using the same software and was just about to perform the very same update. Yikes. Come to think of it RWDVolvos and SWV also run on the same software. I think I'll wait for the 2.0 version of the update!!!

Hi Glasgowjim one of the mods from the 480 club europe site , I dont know what has happened to the site have emailed to folk senior mod and one of admins but as yet have received no reply. I am in the dark as much as yourselves. the attacks were getting severe I was spending about 20 mins at a time removing the spam especially the ones from russia which contained offensive porn images. It got to the stage Iwas removing one set of spam as 2 or 3 other spammers were putting it up !

As captain slow said it looks like the forum is gone for good - I would like to be wrong but I have now given up on it and moved over here
