Default In car rear dvd

Hi, I'm looking for any recommendations for a rear DVD player for my daughter. Would I be right in saying the headrests don't come out so limited to a specific fit?

My last car had rear seat screens and separate dvd player but the kids didn't use it at all for the last 3 or 4 years we had the car.

My recommendation - 8-10" tablet (eg ipad or similar, ideally with at least 64gb memory). There are plenty of strap on holders available for them for less than a fiver. Before we go on a journey we just download a bunch of programmes on bbc iplayer, itv player, etc.
Best of all, if you or family have Sky, they have all the usual documentaries, etc, but also massive catalogue of family films, disney, etc that can be downloaded to the tablet and taken on holiday. You can get at least 15-20hrs on a 64 gb ipad.
Other advantages : it makes good use of early ipads that are crap for doing anything else of much use ( often found cheap in 2nd hand places). It is thin enough to chuck under the seat or central armrest when you leave the car. You can use standard bluetooth headsets - no need to find particular IR ones. When you get to where you are going you can watch stuff there too.

I thought of that earlier but the two ipads we have are only 16gb. In saying that I'm gonna try and download some mp4 programmes and see if I can add them to it. Thanks

I suppose it depends how long your journeys are.
Just for an example ours is an ipad 2 64gb. If you look around you can still get these new for about £150
eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Apple-iPad-...lack/103063221
Refurbished for less than £100 or just 2nd hand for almost nothing, comparitively.
I wouldn't buy one to use as an ipad (if you get what I mean) because Apple has made it almost useless for things like surfing the web or up to date gaming by overloading it with OS updates, but they are significantly cheaper than built-in dvds and much more versatile than them for watching media, music, etc.
In terms of mp4 files, I am not sure how that compares to the downloads from Sky Go, which we mostly use (off of my mothers account).

Got an ipad holder and have just put a couple of hours of programmes on it and it works great. Had given up on this idea but it will work perfectly. May be as well to buy a 64gb as you said as that would be perfect. Thank again.

I have just got a 64gb I drive from eBay, that plugs into iPhones and iPads. You can load films etc via pc. It was £13.45.

With old tablets (any system) just re-set the whole tablet to factory settings and disable further updates. Once you've watched all your recordings delete them and start again. Should have plenty of internal memory (and possibly an sd card too)

But are there any holders for dvd players? I'd rather not ffaff about with loading films onto a tablet, as my son has loads of Dvd's. Also, last time I did this the tablet's speaker was backward facing and annoyed the hell out of the front seat passenger!
