Washer Jets - Upgrade? Too what?

Talk to me about washer jets, sick and tired cleaning out the jets on the 740 to only last a couple of weeks, have flushed lines, cleaned the bottle, blown them out, poked them out, washed them out and yet they only last a few days before starting to block again.

Tried to fit jets from a Ph1 V70 but they don't fit in the bonnet holes.

Has anybody upgraded them and what did they use?

Ideally would like ones which provide a spray rather then a jet of water

I believe ph1 v40 ones were used by someone (Laird on his 760 I believe) but I might be wrong, I have some somewhere but I never tried fitting them. Ph2 v70 washers are pretty good but no idea if they fit either so i'm little help.

Mark 2 V/S70 washer nozzles will fit - I obtained a set FOC from my local independent garage from one of the two cars they had "inherited". They give a better pattern than the standard 900-series units, IMO.

What Jason says is right, i've been using 850/early S/V 40 washer jets for a while now and wouldn't have anything else. They provide a "mist spray" that is kind of fan shape and hits the screen about 2-3" above the wipers. This is the most recent listing for them i could find :

Well worth the money, also try adding a pint of white vinegar to your washer bottle to help remove all the limescale in the system. Don't use the malted brown stuff, it makes things dirty everywhere!
Besides the "i'm following a chipper van" smell, you'll also notice your screen is cleaned easier and after some use the jets should get stronger as the limescale disappears.

I do have some photos somewhere of how effective they are but they've been "photobucketed" so can't find them just now - if i do i'll post them up.

PS once i'd disconnected the rubber hose from the old jets, i used an 11mm box spanner to release the clips - slide it over the body of the jet and push towards the bonnet, the clips compress then suddenly the jet pops out of the bonnet. You might also get away with a deep 11mm socket as well.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but are those S40/V40 jets adjustable? Fitting them has solved the flow issue, but it's directed at the lower windscreen seal on my 940. Tried wedging something under them to change the angle but don't seem to have enough adjustment for that to make a difference

Did you clean all your pipework etc through when you fitted the new jets? If you have poor flow in the first place, it won't matter what you fit as you'll still have poor flow unless you correct it.

The screenwash bit starts about 1:15, no adjustment needed! You may have to completely remove your reservoir, clean it out, remove the NRVs from the pipework and blow through the pipes with compressed air, alternatively get clear water in the reservoir (after cleaning it) with a pint of white vinegar, go to the first NRV and disconnect on the pump side of it, feed the hose into the top of the reservoir and operate the washers until it flows right.
Reconnect the NRV then remove the hose from the other side of the NRV and feed the NRV into the reservoir and operate the washers.
Continue doing this one length/NRV at a time until you reach the bonnet, once you have improved the flow at the T_valve, disconnect the output hoses from the T and try again. Weak flow here points to the T-valve if it can't be cleared by flushing through as described. Chances are by this point you can't feed the hose back into the reservoir so aim it somewhere other than over the dizzy cap/HT leads/coil.

Final check is each hose to the jets.

Yeah they are the ones he means, the link is two years old that's why it doesn't work haha. I really need to buy them for mine as I hate the solid jet that comes out of the standard 940 washers.

What Luke said Bob ^^^^^, they're also listed as S40 fan or mist jets, can't remember which and are a lot cheper than PFV.
