Question Cruise Control v Speed Limiter

Hi All

I've just bought a 13 plate V40 R-Design and am loving the car.

However on the advert it said it was fitted with cruise control, but all I can find is the speed limiter.

Before I go back to the dealer and complain, is there anywhere else the cruise buttons could be? Don't want to get there and them say "oh it's this button here" so I thought I'd ask some more experienced owners!

Cheers

What does your steering wheel look like?
This or different?

Instead of calling the dealer to complain, can you not call them to politely enquire?....... Then complain.

I only have one button at the top instead of two, and it says LIM on it so I'm guessing that's all I have?

I bought it from a generic dealer so I doubt they'd know to be honest!

Your steering wheel looks the same as mine. On the left side of the wheel, there are six buttons (plus a switch), with two buttons above the cruise control settings of +, -, resume (clockwise circular arrow) and cancel (O). These two upper buttons are speed limiter (left button) and adaptive cruise control (right button). Pressing the right button engages the ACC, which then needs to be set using the + or - buttons. To the left of the speedometer, your selected ACC speed will appear on a vertical scale. A green indicator, similar to the symbol on the ACC button, will appear in the bottom right sector of the speedometer, showing the ACC is fully engaged and fully operational.

If you, say, touch the brakes, the ACC will disengage, but still stay in the 'armed' position. The green symbol will turn white. The ACC can be resumed by pressing the resume button as I described above. The middle switch adjusts the distance or time between you and the car in front. All this is explained in the owner's manual.

Sorry for the huge image, but as you can see I only have one button which looks like the limiter icon?

Apologies for replying to Cheshered5 instead of rachyblue. It does sound rachyblue that you only have the limiter, not the ACC.

Speed limiter (pointless gadget) was standard fitment on new V40 with cruise control as an option, and radar guided auto cruise control as a further option on top of cruise control.

You just have a speed limiter.

Further, as far as I am aware cruise control can be dealer fitted. It is just a matter of replacing the button set that says 'LIM' with the cruise control buttons and adding the software. Cost is around £325, although as your car was advertised with cruise, the selling dealer must pay.

Regards
