As has been said there was a T5 AWD V50 available briefly but that's it - no diesel AWD.

I wonder if that was because most of the parts to make it were available off the shelf from the Focus X Road which was also never sold in the UK.

On the Swedish market, V50 T5 AWD was available 2007-2010. But that was the only V50 AWD here too.

Interesting also that with the new V40 CC the only AWD option is with the T5 engine.

Somewhat market dependent, it seems. But the new XC40 is available with diesel and AWD, too. This is in Swedish, but I think you get the idea anyway.

Specifications V40 CC
Specifications XC40

I do wonder why there was never a XC or CC version of the S40/V50. There was a Focus AWD version in some markets.

I suspect it was a marketing strategy by Ford, they started dropping AWD versions of the X-Type Jag mid 2000's and never did an AWD diesel model - which I am sure would have sold well.

i dont know about a Focus X Road as a parts source, but i do know the Focus modders use Ford Kuga 2.5T AWD running gear to adapt STs and RSs to AWD.

That's interesting - the AWD KUGA running gear is pretty much the same as the XC60. Would be interesting to see how they deal with the electronics?
