Another thing springs to mind, would using super unleaded (97 octane?) help with the pinking problem at higher boost levels?

Another question suddenly came to me.....
On the standard car, what is it that controls the boost level? I ask because there is no mention of removing anything from the standard setup, and I would assume if there's some sort of factory fitted unit it would need to be removed first? Regards Eddy |

figures
My 945 1997 B230FK with a 15g turbo at 10psi ran 16.8 seconds for the quarter mile and was hitting the rev limit of 6200. I'm sure the engine could take 15psi but then it would be running lean. I would guess bhp is between 170-190. At the moment it is fast enough. 0-60 is probably low eights.

Unfortunately, I'm not totally clued up on the differences, and going past 10 psi is beyond the scope of my article. However I am aware that there is a fuel cut at about 12psi on some of the B200 engines. Your car is a 1992, correct me if I'm wrong, but that means it has LH2.4. From what I've read the B200 LH2.4 ECU is slightly different. Have a read of this: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showth...t=53751&page=3. You could always give BB-Q a PM too. Thanks for the instructions that's my gauge and MBC fitted and tested. Running at 10 psi max for now which seems to have woken the car up pretty well. Increased acceleration and response a lot more lively too.

Sorry to bounce this article up again, but I have found it very interesting & have another question regarding the set up.
I have an HPT 940 and don't appear to have any blank tappings in my inlet manifold. I know the stock boost gauge is of no use, and so I could just disconnect it & run the pipe to my new boost gauge, but I know that useful or not, if the stock gauge doesn't work it will annoy the hell out of me! Can I cut this pipe & introduce a T piece to feed my new boost gauge, and would this cause inaccuracies with the new gauge? Thanks in advance, Regards, Jerry |

I have a 97 940 LPT Saloon and WHAT A DIFFERENCE an MBC has made. This thread is definitely one of the best.
Currently running at 13psi, no problems and no fuel cut issues. MPG is down a tad, but hey! As a result, the beast is good for 60 in under 8 seconds, and is still going strong after 2 mpm A word of advice for others who are going to do this. If you have a LPT, you can tap into the recirc pipe from the turbo to the intake manifold for your boost gauge, rather than opening up a blanked port on the manifold. I'll post a pic when I get home, as I'm currently at work. Cheers
