V70 hazards
My 05 V70 has decided the hazards will not work when unlocking the car and only work as hazards when the ignition is switched on, has anyone else had this problem?

Do you mean that you don't get hazard flashing lights when you lock / unlock the car to show the alarm has set / unset?
If so, it indicates that a door or other opening isn't closed, or that there is a fault in the system. Often it's the bonnet catch switch that starts to play up. Opening the bonnet and closing it by letting it drop from a reasonable height, say around 400mm or slightly more, may trip the bonnet switch back to life.

was the central locking lights not controlled by the alarm siren module? Swear i read somethere removing module/pulling its fuse means central locking still works, but the lights will no longer flash?

Correct. Central locking will still work fine, but if there is a fault on one of the circuits that means the "closed" indicator is not set, the alarm won't set so no "flashing lights"
