Yes I got a wiring diagram i will check it and report back, is the module bolted down to earth or will there be a separate earth, will the module need to plugged in for signal voltage to be read. Does the signal come from the SRS module and then sent to CEM or the other way around? Thanks for your help

No there is always a separate earth in one of the plugs for safety..

Be very very careful doing live tests , you don't want the air bags to go off in there . It is a VERY violent affair which could kill you if it throws you across the car . The volvo special tool break out box takes the testing points outside the car for live tests .

yes it needs to be plugged in for network tests .

the signals communicate both ways !

Looking at the wiring diagram for the SRS module the only earths i can see are common earth points. I don't think there is a specific one for the SRS module. I see there are a pair of CAN lines pins 27&28 on connector C1 going back to the CEM. Does anyone know anyone who can test or check SRS module? Will a new one require coding to the car?

You could be right , the srs module bolts to a substantial alloy casting which is earthed .
You have tested it .. it has a code for internal fault? You tested the two live feeds ? and you tested the two pairs of network wires as i described? if all those are correct its faulty .
If you read the big yellow sticker on the srs module you will see it says the module must not be used on other vehicles as it contains vehicle specific data .

When you fit a new one it has to be re loaded with the car specific data at an authorised volvo workshop .

Make sure the battery is disconnected when removing the module !

I can only see 1 pair of network cables from SRS going back to the CEM not tested them yet just getting information ready before i try and diagonise further, if SRS is not on network does this not imply that I won't see anything on network lines? I will check the main chasis earth on the SRS module, don't think this will be the issue though.

ok .
The second set of network wires are for the weight sensor , USA Only

so you do only have the one pair of network wires in plug C1 ( the long thin plug ) on pins 27 and 28

I will be very surprised if you do not have those voltages i mentioned above on the network wires

Thats all well and good but does anybody know if it will actually work in your passengers few seconds of life or death need ? I wouldn't hesitate getting something as important as that new from the Dealer .

Update just checked the CAN lines pin 27 CAN high giving me 2.7V ignition on, 3V with car running. Pin 28 CAN low line giving me 2.4V ignition on 2.2 car running so looks like CAN lines and signal are getting to SRS module. So suspect module I guess.
