Super chuffed with my new hi-spec 240 GLT!
I’ve had a very good day indeed!
Steve Haigh gave me a lift down to Southampton to pick up the 240 GLT estate that I bought on ebay. It is a very late GLT, being 1990 built. It was delivered new in Germany and imported into the UK in 1992. I knew the car had a/c, but I was not prepared for all the other extras fitted which came as massive bonus! The original owner must have spent a fortune. The car has: Air conditioning Cruise control Limited slip differential 7-seat pack Volvo towbar Graphic equaliser Volvo foglamps Locking wheel nuts Roller load cover Boot tray LED ambient temperature gauge Metallic mid grey paint (which I’m told was not available on UK GLTs) Probably some other bits I've missed There are faults with the car, some bits of rust, and it is certainly in need of a lot of TLC maintenance-wise. But it came with 5 nearly-new tyres, a new exhaust and 6 month MOT. This is absolutely the best £450 I ever spent! Lots of cleaning and maintenance needed under here! Cruise A/C Ste tries out the child seat! Diff testing! One wheel was on a sheet of ice Some nasty bits Many thanks go to Nick_ovlov who spotted this. And to Steve for the 500 mile lift! More photos tomorrow when I start the clean up. Cheers John |

Nice buy even for the spec alone! It's going to be a real treat once you clean it up and have it in tip running condition!
Does the air-con work and has it been converted? What about cruise? Looks like it had cruise fitted waaay back in Germany! Those LED ambient temperature gauges are very rare and fetch a fainting price on eBay US! What's up with the washer exactly? I noticed it has black wiper arm boots, not to common now-a-days! Look forward to the updates! |

Looks great. Never seen that colour before, very nice. Funny position for the horn? Should look very lux once you've sorted things.

Looks super-nice - love the colour. Mine had the same diplomatic sticker in at as well as it was owned by a guy stationed out in Germany. Wish mine had some of those extras though

Darren I don't know about the A/C or cruise. I didn't try them on the way home because I didn't want to give the car the slightest excuse to break down before I've done a full check and the overdue maintenance. I expect both systems to need attention. The ambient temp gauge works though! The washer is a real bodge. It's completely the wrong item for the car, but instead of just getting the correct part, someone has made some weird spacer to go underneath to get the washer nozzle to the right angle. It will be in the bin before long. John |
