Volvo V70 (2005) vs XC70 (2010)?
Hello, first time poster here. My family used to have a beautiful 1987 Volvo, I think it was a 740 turbo, but that's my only Volvo experience.
Now I'm looking at either a 2005 or 2006 Volvo V70, or a 2010 XC70. And really I'm just trying to figure out which is the better overall car. I'm only looking at petrol because I have a bit of an aversion to diesels. So the V70 has a 2.5 5 cylinder, or I guess the XC70 is a 3.0 v6. And I suppose really I'm hoping to find out from people in the know what the overall reliability and build quality is like vs the two. And also of course the driving experience. Thank you for your advice. |

If it has to be petrol, then the sensible choice is the earlier V70. The newer petrol V70/XC70 models from 2008 onwards incur a higher tax rate of £500+ I believe. Unless you are happy to pay this, keep with the earlier models.

Unless you only make short journeys, perhaps you should be seeing a therapist regarding your aversion to diesel.
Putting that to one side, I’d want a wider variety of choices than just two rather different vehicles. Putting that to one side, I’d opt for the V70, assuming that you’ve found a good example. |

V70 2.5 petrol, definitely worth checking the toad tax on the newer ones it jumps up a lot.

Why not a 2005 xc70 2.5T?
