Default XC 60 T8 charging problem

Hi,
I have a 19 registered XC60 T8 which I got as a company car in March.
The car only came with the 13A 3-pin plug charging cable and that is all I needed until recently when I have moved office.
I bought a charging cable off e-bay which I think is a Nissan item but has the correct ‘mennekes’ type connectors.
Unfortunately I have not yet been successful in charging.
Do I need to have a genuine Volvo cable?

No you don't, but some eBay items are of questionable quality. I assume you're using public charge points. Can you give any examples of where you've tried charging?

Default Car registered with Charging company?

I wasn't able to charge my T8 until I registered the car with the charging provider (Charge your Car in my case). The account was valid, but had my previous car registered to it. The message on the charging post was something like 'no plug/cable detected', but it must have determined the type of car during the Charger-Car handshaking. All fine once cars switched over, which I couldn't do through the phone app, but did online later.

You don't need a genuine volvo one...
