What they told me, it was to do with security.
They said, that they are not allowed to do the Two year warranty, because that has to be done, face to face?

What a lot of Volvo owners do not fully understand, the Volvo Extended Warranty, is not part of Volvo U.K. direct.
It is a third party, providing an insurance policy.
That is my understanding.

When I bought a 2yr warranty a few months ago I was told by the Dealer that it came under FSA rules for selling financial products. The Service Desk people weren't allowed to complete the transaction - it had to be signed off by someone in the dealership who was FSA approved.

Yes and if like me your dealer is part of the Arnold Clark group they don't allow their Sales Staff, who are FSA approved, to get involved with the After Sales part of the dealership. It is a completely crazy situation - I got my Extended Warranty through the good offices of an independent Volvo dealer.

I am definitely taking the Extended Warranty for peace of mind.
It is a personal choice.

Should things go wrong, then it could be very expensive to repair.

I am also trying to extend my warranty for 2 years as it is out mid Sept and I am just being sent round in circles. Contacted the dealer who sent me to the Insurance company who do it, who said they only do it for a year so have to talk to Volvo for 2 years, phoned Volvo UK who said I need to go to the dealer, the dealer then said no, but would find out for me and now a week later still waiting.
This is the 2nd time since I bought the car that I have tried to sort out the warranty.
On top of that the neighbour has just reversed into the back door of my car. 2 quotes, £4k and £2.6k. Being told the paint alone is £700 as it is a special paint!! Looks like an insurance job as long as liability is accepted with both of us reversing at the same time.
Insurance now due as well and AA have quoted me almost £200 increase, so looks like I will be going elsewhere again.
Not having a good week as far as cars are concerned.

Just had my LV renewal through. Was £281 last year, now £309 so a 10% increase.

Will probably just go with it as I can't be bothered to shop around.

Hi Neon

Have you tried Riverside at Doncaster? I bought a 3 year warranty from them for 599. I did it all over the phone although they do know me well I guess. It seems comprehensive but I suppose you cant tell tell you claim. That said they did tell me that they had a good experience with the company and only sold their products as they were happy with them. I figured that seeing as I have a good relationship with them that they would not sell me something that was duff. 599 seemed a great price too.

Our cars are on multicar discount with Aviva. The XC90 with 25k miles per year, business use, highish excess and a few years of introductory NCD comes out at a bit less than 300 quid. Considering my lack of NCD (just opted out of co. car) didnt think this was bad....

I have just extended my warranty for 2 years with Volvo Extended Warranty.
Initially, I was quoted £795, but when the invoice arrived, it was for £745, inclusive.

As mentioned earlier by Driver Dave, our dealership (Arnold Clark) does not do the extended warranty and to the best of my knowledge, there are only three dealerships in Scotland that do it.
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth.
