I thought that was what the diagnostic codes were for?

No , They are just a guide , you have to follow a path and determine by tests what exactly is wrong , that is a lot of the labour involved .

Clear all the codes and do a full code read again to see which come back and are current.
Unplug the air quality sensor. It may be affecting the LINbus and creating climate control issues. Resistance test all the glow plugs. My guess is that number 5 is out of spec. See how you get on with that first. You can also click on each code in Vida then click Information and details at the bottom of the screen for an explanation of the potential causes, symptoms and fixes.

0042 probably Rear Offside wheel bearing and / or R/O ABS sensor.
I had the same code about 3 weeks ago and since replacing the wheel bearing/hub unit it's been fine. My ABS sensor was also fine but sometimes they get damaged by the faulty bearing. Not a bad job BUT only buy a Genuine Volvo or very good quality replacement bearing otherwise you will be doing the job twice.
