Advice needed on exhaust
Volvo S40 1.6 03
After a check up on my exhaust I was told I needed a middle and back section. The price I was quoted by Kwikfit was £330 by National tyres and Autocare £280 and by my local garage £150 I am completely confused by the differences in price I would be much o9bliged if some Could advise me. |

Under no circumstances I would take your car to Kwik (Pro)fit. Too many horror stories and very overpriced. If you have used your local garage before and they do a good job take it there.

He spoke with the manager who offered me a mid and rear section for the bargain price of just over £400 NOT INCLUDING FITTING !!!!!!! This was not a genuine part. I told him where to poke it. Ebay search at home yeided an identical type system for £195 inc postage. Obviously not a genuine part but still a huge saving. Shop elsewhere. |

Oh yeah and unless you know a really good manufacturer you do know these £160 exhausts systems only last just over a year don't you? I fitted a good brand Bosal and it didn't see its second winter so i just got a stainless Ferrita that will outlast the car. It saves buying a new one every 2 years

Might be worth checking with a custom exhaust place a lot would do a stainless steel exhaust for that price and will outlive the car

As recommended elsewhere in forum I had stainless exhaust fitted by http://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk/ to my Volvo S40 2.0D two days ago. This was fabricated and fitted took around 2 hours total cost £300 with lifetime guarantee. They are situated just off junction 18 M4.

There might be someone on here who is breaking a car which might have a good exhaust on it, might be your cheapest option

The trick is to figure out a brand that offers good value for money in terms of life expectancy and then go find who sells it for the lowest price. |
