Unhappy Ignition problem

I have the Volvo s40 Phase 1 in the 2.0 (B204S) engine.

When i start the car in the morning or the first start it starts perfectly, but after it has run for sometime if i try to start it fails to start. Only way to start the car when this happens is to quickly turn the key from Drive(Position II) to ignition (position III) before the self test finishes.

I changed all spark plugs & engine oil just tow months back and the battery is in good condition .

Can anyone please help ?

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

Also, can you try disconnecting the MAF and see if it makes a difference.

Also, check the vacuum lines and see if they are blocked or if they are split at any point

I haven't changed the fuel filter, but i removed the fuel filter sometime back and it didn't look like it needed replacement.

I will try disconnecting the MAF sensor and see if there is any difference.

Also can u tell me which vacuum lines to check (diagrams if possible) and can you suggest a way to check blockage in the vacuum lines.
