Cool new member saying hi

I,ve had my 940 CD LPT estate for 11 years now and have done 135,000 trouble free miles in it.

It doesn't get so much use now but gets through exhaust systems with monotonous regularity running on LPG.

What do you think of the stainless steel systems on offer and can any of you suggest the best deals on offer. It has just blown again!

My other cars are all MG's I have 5 and have just started hiring them out on self drive basis if any of you would like a change from the (tanks).
I don't think I could ever part with the Volvo even though I get great joy from driving the other cars in my fleet.
I'm getting boring advice on exhausts please

Welcome from another CD owner

My car came with a 2.5" (the standard is 2.25") stainless cat-back exhaust which cost about £300 in 2006. The receipt didn't give a brand name though.
The exhaust is still in perfect condition although I have had to replace one of the steel clamps that had nearly rusted through when I caught it.

I had been warned of this possibility as a friend who has a Land Rover 110 (very nice ex demonstrator with many extras that he bought from the factory. It even has an in-built compressor and control system for towing air-braked trailers).
He regularly has to retrieve his stainless exhaust as the non-stainless brackets rust and fail and it drops off while driving

My exhaust differs in design to the standard, by having a straight rear pipe, which I prefer.

Hi,

Not sure about some oof the S/S systems about, but PD Gough make pretty good ones (and user thicker steel than 904) and guarantee them for life.
Based near notts so might be a journey but they can also make up and deliver.

Try also Guaranteed Exhausts, they advertise in the VOC magazine (discount to VOC members) and also guarantee for life.

Des. . .

Hi thanks for that straight tail pipe looks good. I need an ss system my 740 did 150,000 miles on 1 system and only the rear box failed week before I sold it.

My 940 has done 174,000 miles and I've put 3 systems on in 5 years doing only 40,000.
LPG and the Scottish roads in winter don't help though.

Winter tyres are great - I got a set of steel wheels from a dismantler in Bedfordshire and a set of 195/70'sI put these on November til april and get around OK.

I'll try PD Gough and Guaranteed Exhausts and keep you posted
