Default Bonnet switch replacement info required

On my 2010 Xc70 I have come to a halt on a task ...!

Does anyone have a solution as how to remove the Bowden cables from the drivers side latch and place into a new one ?

I pulled the car apart to do this today and came to a dead stop ...I cannot see how to get it out ?

I have attached a photo here of original in place with Bowden cable and new one adjacent showing the slots the cables need to be moved to .....anyone done this and can provide a “ How to ....?”

Appreciate the sage advice on here ....!

Terry

So I think I have worked out ‘How to ‘ on this one ...it’s a bigger job than first envisaged....

As I couldn’t find anything online regarding the solution
I shall write one up with some pics once I’ve done it and tested the functionality ....
I found various threads on here about it but not exactly my issue as I wanted it corrected properly , not shorting out wires at plugs to bodge around it .....

While the front end of the car is apart there will be a few additional jobs being carried out at this time ...

More to follow ......

I plead guilty to that one but in my defence it was never intended to be a "permanent" fix nor was it recommended to others to consider it as one. It is what enables you to continue to use the car while you set up what is needed to repair or replace the switch which is malfunctioning and and causing problems with the alarm system. In my case keeping the car in use while a penetrant freed the seized switch solved the problem permanently but I am sure that knowing that the car is not lost to the driver while this fault is researched and fixed has value to the owner and so the "bodge" is not one of which I am at all ashamed!

Ah apologies for poor choice of wording , didn’t mean it in that way ....should have worded it as a “more permanent” solution ....no offence intended....

My history on this goes thought back to an issue I had with a MB SL 55 where I had a fuel system control module go a wall and MB couldn’t source the part and offered a “ workaround” wiring mod but this didn’t have 100% functionality and I had to fight them for long enough to resolve ....

A different issue but it set my mind in the OCD manner in which it is .....

All the best ...

Undermining my defence!

While it's not the best option to forgo the repair that gives you full alarm continuity, there is an argument that under bonnet thefts are less prevalent than illicit cabin entry and the work-around does eliminate the "Bonnet open" warning enabling the car to be used normally. On a car where the owner cannot do the job himself or cannot afford to have the repair done by a garage or where the value of the car is low enough for the owner to accept reductions in non essential features, I suppose the 1p paper clip is a life saver.

Ha ha, my bad.....

Breaking into a bonnet on one of these cars is far from easy, it can be done but its very difficult and time-consuming and thats when knowing exactly where to fiddle plus, as you say, it unlikely to be molested under there, hence i just used a bit of wire, out of paper clips lol not to mention im a total cheap skate
