Just tried to email but your email address bounced.

Basically send me address to johnlangrick@aol.com and will post.

You will see cost on the mail 'stamp' and trust that you will sort later.

Cheers

I have sent you a PM John sorry I got my own email address wrong it is markbevan4@talktalk.net
The gearbox on my car is on a wing and a prayer so I’m reluctant to buy a new module.
Plus I go for a job interview tomorrow which will have a company car so if I’m successful the Xc90 will not be used and probably up for sale as spares or repairs itself.

How bad is it? Do you have any photos of PCB?

I can’t download photos for some reason. Please send me your email or mobile and I will forward photos to you.
I hope to get a new battery tomorrow to test it.

Hi, you need to reduce the file size to upload as there is a limit .

You can download a free app to do this.

Just to follow up. He did send me a photo and, to be fair, it doesn't look too bad and might be salvagable.
I've advised to remove the battery connector as it covers a lot of tracks, then see what has happened. I also advised to clean the board with white vinegar to kill off the battery juice so that it can't keep eating the tracks even when the new battery is fitted (this is what happened to me).

I've attached the photo he sent to me. As I say, it isn't too bad, but I'd be concerned about the area around C8 and C1 (under the black gunk).

Provided the printed circuit board is ok, a new battery can be fitted if your handy.

When mine played up, a replacement battery was of no use due to damage to the circuit board from the old battery leaking.

I bought a good used alarm unit which sorted it.

cheshired5 on here has done a video covering this.

You should look to get this fixed as soon as possible as with mine, when I bought the car, the battery had corroded for a long time and the acid had destroyed the circuit board so a new unit was required.
