Default Gummi Pflege - Advice & Info. sought

Hi All,
I have seen numerous posts about this product but none that will specifically answer my question. Right then, the seal that runs along the top of the door/bottom of the window glass that is supposed to stop water filling up your door. Well mine, on my passenger door doesn't. I own a MY 2006 C70 and what I would like to know is how do I correct this, is the rubber too old now and the rubber treatment stick, will the product help reform the seal. One of the previous owners drilled a drain hole in the door and I would like to correct this. How do I reshape the seal so it pushes against the glass, will Gummi Pflege do this or after treatment will I need to apply a certain amount of pressure to push the seal back into shape. Al answers & thoughts appreciated, how the product works etc. I know it will recondition the rubber, but will it reshape it?
Thanks in advance.
Fred

Sorry that I cannot help regarding that product. I have never heard of it. BUT, last time I had this problem was decades ago with a Triumph Herald. I was able to obtain new seals and fitted them.

Certainly in every car I've owned, those seals are only meant to be water resistant. The doors should have drain holes in the bottom to allow small amounts of rain water out...

Gummi Pfledge is good for maintaining flexible rubber seals, but will not reform an out of shape seal. You need new seals. As others have said the door seal is only supposed to reduce the amount of water ingress, not prevent it completely.

I'm not talking small amounts, possibly pints. It can take over a minute for the flow of water to become a drip and longer to stop completely.

How easy is it to change this seal on a C70?

+1 on ITSv40's recommendation of new seals. Gummi won't reshape just protect/condition.

Seals available from Volvo, but you could also get from a breaker. C70 roof seals are life changingly expensive, but door/window seals maybe more reasonable!!

I use Gummi on mine for door seals etc., then slugslime or Dupont Krytox GPL 105 on the roof seals.

Shouldn't be too difficult to change but never tried! Shown on attached drawing. No. 7 probably. www.volvopartswebstore.com has good exploded views you can access.

Parts available from FRF Swansea quoting C3 code and get a good discount. Details in Trader's Offers & Discounts section. Will also ensure you get correct part.

Do they only begin to drain once you open the door?

The doors have multiple drain holes ex factory

The window glass seal is never designed to be 100% waterproof

However a new rubber seal will always help if the old one has deteriorated.

Gummi Pflege is basically silicon. It helps keep rubber soft and pliant. It is excellent to help prevent doors freezing closed in Winter.

No, it's not so obvious but any large amount of water in the door starts to pour out, and deflect off the sill as I reverse off the drive.
