V70R under tray, rain issue
My 2003 V70R doesn’t have an engine bay under tray. When in heavy rain I get a squealing from the near side front wheel. This doesn’t last long but returns if I happen to drive through standing water. Any ideas, and would an u see tray resolve this? Any ideas where to get a replacement under tray? Thanks to all who read and post on this forum. P

Hi.
I don`t think a undertray would do anything to resolve the issue other than keeping the engine bay cleaner. From my own experience I think the water is getting into something which is revolving , ie. wheel bearings or driveshaft and then being spun out again further down the road. Best to check the driveshaft gaiters and the water seal on the hub behind the CV joint. It may be nothing more than close running pads on a wet brake disc. |

I've been running without an undertray for about 2 years and have no such noise.
The wheels and immediate components aren't even slightly covered when a tray is fitted so investigate other options.

Thank you.
It is very much a motion based issue. As soon as I stop the noise stops. It only happens when there is standing water on the road. Now booked in to the garage for a mechanic to have a look at. I have new discs and pads all round and can’t see a gaiter issue. Something may may be apparent when the car’s up on a ramp. I had a Saab 95 Aero hot with a racing spec aluminium under tray. It worked really well and even after 145000 miles the engine bay was relatively clean. I just wondered if anything similar was available on a Volvo. |

Hi.
"I had a Saab 95 Aero hot with a racing spec aluminium under tray." You won`t find anything as good for your Volvo , I`m afraid. |

High Pitch Sound
Hi, there can be an issue in wet weather where there is high pitched sound when the rear driveshaft can hit the hot exhaust, I have experienced this a number of times in one of my cars only in wet weather and only for a very, very short period of time!
I understood that an undertray was not recommended on Rs!

That video shows exactly what issue I have, I will feed that to the mechanic when it’s in. Thank you!
