What's the weight difference between yours and mine then if we're running the same engine?

Evening, I've got a 2015 v60, d4 £0 road tax, and as a yorkshireman, I run the cheapest I can find, which is generally supermarket. Never been convinced by the running the better fuel for better economy, but willing to learn with evidence. I get 48 tank after tank, mainly with town driving and some dual carriageway work. On a longer run, with a full tank at 68, itll average 63, and I've even had the car tell me I've got a range of over 1000 miles a couple of times.

Why do you feel the need to define yourself as a 'Yorkshireman' to justify your financial choice of fuel source. I am a 'Devonian' but do not feel the need to use it to express my reasoning.

Pretty much the same as mine then, allthough I've never quite had the total range up to 1000 miles!

And I'm a stingy Salopian...

I had a MY17 XC60 D4 FWD manual and it would return on average 43 mpg at 75-ish on the motorway. I would expect slightly less for the auto car, 40-41.

BTW that was calculating it by doing a brim to brim fill, the computers aren't always accurate.

Maybe mine is closer than I thought then if only getting ~43 on motorway.

Odd that others are saying they can get >60 though.

It has always intrigued me as to why the MPG value returned by the car, or to be more precise, a computer with a software algorithm differs from when manually doing it via brim-to-brim. If the total consumed fuel per mile is based on totalised injector input and it knows the precise distance travelled since the last update, why is it not bang on as displayed?

Assumptions there are it's based on injector totals and not course readings from the fuel tank level sender. Also, for distance I suppose the true distance travelled will vary slightly based on age of tyre given they wear and thus the circumference changes. As to whether that has a noticeable impact I have no idea. Wonder if it also uses GPS in conjunction for improved readings?
